Race Programs

 

The Race Programs are run by the Mountain Creek Ski Race department that provides the facilities, coaches and slopes for our racers Skylands Ski Club compliments the Race department by providing all of volunteers that are an absolute necessity for running a race.The Club also runs a number of social events and sponsors the pre-Season trip to Stratton Mountain in early December.

The follow programs are run by Mountain Creek:

Entry Level Programs

Our entry level, non-competitive race programs concentrate on skill development and basic race course training with a particular emphasis on maintaining a fun and playful environment. For ages 5 - 10.

SUPER STARS (ages 5 - 8)
Our Superstar Coaches offer a fun, skill-based training program to help develop your child's skiing ability. We'll have them skiing the whole mountain in no time! The Superstar Program is designed for children who can make turns on green (easiest) terrain, and is the next progression for Kids Kamp graduates. Price does not include lift ticket or rentals; a lift ticket or All Access Season Pass is required to participate.

For the youngest racers this is the lead-in to the USSA Youth Ski League.

YOUTH SKI LEAGUE (ages 7 - 10)
This entry level, non-competitive race program concentrates on race skills and basic race course training with a strong emphasis on fun. The season's goal is an overall improvement in race technique while developing the skills necessary for more competitive program levels. This program meets on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am till 2:00pm with a one hour break for lunch (not included). Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in two fun races during the season.


Alpine Development Programs

For more advanced athletes who crave the thrill of competition, our Alpine Development Programs make progression fun and easy in an encouraging and friendly social environment.

The Alpine Development Programs are designed for USSA training. Athletes training meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 8:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 2:30pm.

JI - JII (Ages 15 - 19)
The most focused USSA training program in New Jersey, athletes receive training in advance race techniques by USSA certified coaches. Competition at this level takes place on a State and Regional level.

JIII (Ages 13 - 14)
This program continues the training progression of athletes racing at a USSA level. While having fun is still a strong component, the emphasis is on more athletic fine-tuning of specific racing techniques and skills. Athletes in this program begin to compete on a Regional level.

JIV - JVI (JIV Ages 11-12, JV & JVI Ages 7-10)
This program is for more advanced young athletes whose race skills are developing, while emphasizing the fun of skiing and ski racing. At this level athletes are introduced to local USSA sanctioned races.


High School Crossover Program

This program is for the High School Ski Team member who would like to enhance their training by participating in our USSA training program in conjunction with their own High School sponsored program. This program meets on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 2:30 pm..
